I know I’m a little late in the game regarding the delay of Parks and Recreation to January, but I thought “better late than never.”

Can I just say that delaying this brilliant show is perhaps the most ridiculous thing done by TV executives since the cancellation of Firefly? Not only does this show have incredible star power, but it fits perfectly with the other Thursday night comedies. I can’t imagine what anyone at NBC was thinking. The only thing that could possibly come as a result from this is that Parks and Recreation will lose the power it gained in its second season, and eventually teeter off to Friday nights and eventually to no man’s land, very much like the victims of the strike of 2008. This cannot happen again; some of the best shows were cancelled because of that – Eli Stone, Aliens in America, Pushing Daisies, and so many others.

And to add insult to injury, it’s being delayed for one of the worst-looking shows I’ve ever seen. A show about outsourcing, I can’t imagine a show American’s would want to watch less. Ken Kwapis, you’re brilliant, but what are you thinking? I know judging this show before I’ve seen it is a little, well, judgmental, but how can I help it when I know I won’t get to see Andy’s goofy smile or the Pit till January.

Believe me, I’m more surprised than anyone that I am writing this blog. Last year, I was shocked that such a wonderful actress like Amy Poehler was in such an awful show because that’s what Parks and Rec was – really just bad. But due to laziness in not turning off the TV after Community (another wonderful show), I got see how wonderfully the show had shifted. No longer a boring comedy about a pit, it became a hilarious comedy about an eternally optimistic woman I love spending a half an hour with.

But Leslie Knope isn’t the reason I am writing this blog, nor is it Ron Swanson with his emerging humanity – - not even Tom’s awesome new relationship. No, I got addicted to the “will-they-won’t they” relationship of the year, the ever-mounting tension between Andy and April. No one saw this relationship coming, not even the show’s producer and writers, who thought the idea was laughable (according to the commentary of “Rock Show” Season 1).

It was all thanks to the brilliance of Aubrey Plaza, who started the entire relationship in one little take in which she wasn’t even supposed to speak, and now it’s the main romance of the show. This story plot gave me something to latch onto in the world of Pawnee, something to keep tuning for, something that really made these two characters more than two more people for Leslie, Mark and Ann to interact with.

I think the biggest compliment I can give this show is that, even if April and Andy never were to actually get together, I would still keep watching because this show doesn’t depend on just the central love interests, but all the stories and all the characters , just as any great show should.

I am writing a plea for good television. Since Dollhouse got canceled I cannot find anything that really interests me (to the point of obsession), so I need your help. This isn’t a contest, you won’t be getting anything in return, but I will make a post about it if I enjoy it. I am open to all different things, I don’t care if it’s currently on or if it got cancelled after only a few episodes (some of the best are).

So, I haven’t blogged in a while, I don’t have an excuse, really it just because I had a lack of inspiration, but recently I have found some. It’s not anything you would expect from me. It’s not filled with bright colors and a happy ending every episode, so unlike anything I have watched in my past, but it is perhaps one of my favorites. Until this past summer I had never heard of Joss Whedon or Summer Glau or Eliza Dushku, the only thing that I had come across regarding these people was a little show called Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Now I have never seen an episode of Buffy or understood the premise, but I have come across less popular creation from the genius, Joss Whedon, these being Firefly and Dollhouse.

Now today I will talk about Dollhouse because it’s actually on TV but do expect a firefly blog very soon.

Out of all TV, Dollhouse has to be the hardest show to explain to an unfamiliar audience, especially when you explain the heart and soul of it all. I shall first give you a list of the things people usually describe Dollhouse with.

• Human Trafficking
• God Complexes
• Artificial Intelligence
• Sex Slaves

I know, it doesn’t sound like it could ever be uplifting or hopeful, certainly you wouldn’t think that the focus would be about the good in all of us, from the list above I personally would think that it was just another boring medial drama or another show based on Forensic Science and who wants to watch that again? Well this show is (thank god) none of those things. Every single episode is fueled by people who have been taken over by evil and are still managing to good and keep the world away from its inevitable apocalypse.

Unfortunately though, this groundbreaking show has been cancelled due to low ratings. I do not understand how this happened; I cannot begin to fathom why people didn’t watch this show in droves. Dollhouse is thought provoking, heart breaking, filled with love and loss and not to mention made up of the finest actors and actresses in Television history. Please, I beg you, if you are hearing of this show for the first time, watch it, you will not be disappointed.

So this will be the last week were there is only one update and review, which is cool because I am so exited for the new seasons of everything. That’s the only reason I hate summers, because I can’t see what is happening to my very favorite characters and weekday nights get kinda boring without them. This is also why Ace of Cakes beats all, one, because it has new shows on for the better part of the summer and two, because they are real people which is adds so much to the show because it’s much more realistic then the other shows.

A lot of the cakes they make on the Ace of Cakes are surprises for the recipient which is perfectly normal but this week it was especially cool because it was a double surprise. The couple who was involved with this little plot was each going to surprise their soon-to-be spouse with a cake from Charm City Cakes, which is probably one of the cutest things I have ever heard. The groom was surprising the bride with a Paris themed/birthday cake which came out absolutely adorable, and the bride was surprising the groom with a cake replica of their dog which was also crazy awesome. Now, the other main cake this week was a baby shower cake in the shape of humpty-dumpty sitting on his wall (before he broke). The problem with this cake was that it was made to celebrate a new little baby but to me it looked kinda scary, but even when I was little I didn’t like humpty-dumpty so maybe it’s just childhood scars coming back to haunt me. All in all this was a average episode, not meaning that that it was bad, because they are all great, but nothing really stood out in particular, that’s why this review might be kind of blah, I just don’t have a lot of excitment behind it.

So next week we have the premieres of So You Think You Can Dance, Glee and iCarly. I am so exited fot it! I will try and control myself and not ramble next week but I’m warning you now.

I’m a photo gallery junkie. If you don’t know what this is it’s cool. I’m sure most people don’t. It means that I really like those photo galleries, like the ones Yahoo always posts. For example this one : http://tv.yahoo.com/falltv/photos/top-10-most-anticipated-new-shows/470, which gives their opinion on the top anticipated new shows of the coming season. Now I don’t always agree with Yahoo’s opinion but I almost always agree with the blogs from Television Without Pity, a site that does reviews and reaps of all the current shows on TV, kind of like this blog but with almost every single show on network TV not just a few. Now that is the reason I created this blog because it’s much easier to read reviews of your favorite shows when you don’t have to sort through a bunch of ones you hate. Now my favorite thing about television without pity has got to be the Tubey Awards, a funky and way less financed version of the Emmy Awards.

The awards include “Best WTF Moment” and “Best Performance by an Inanimate Object” and the traditional ones as well.  The nominees were presented in poll form and came normally about 12 polls every week for eight weeks. Almost every positive category had one of my favorite shows a nominee and all the negative category’s had my least favorite shows as nominees, it was all really great until the actual results came out and all the awards seemed to be dominated by the same few shows such as Lost, Grey’s Anatomy and 30 Rock, now wouldn’t you think that the American public could be just a bit more original then that? I mean come on we get it, 30 Rock is awesome and Grey’s Anatomy sucked this year, can we please move on? What disappointed me the most though, was that for the majority of the answers Television Without Pity agreed with the voters which made me sad because I wholeheartedly trust their judgment and they let me down.

But despite all of this I will still vote again next year if only for the reason that it gave me a reason to look forward to Mondays besides Gossip Girl of course and Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother, oh hell, I have a lot of reasons to look forward to Mondays.

So I really love to bake I mean a lot, in fact this summer I did an internship at a bakery, but that’s a different story. Anyway you would think that I would be a total addict of the Food Network but up until three months ago this just wasn’t so. Back then I didn’t have cabel and I had only heard telling of this cake show Ace of Cakes and never having seen it sounded kind of odd like all the bakers were suppose to be all badass, but then I saw it and OMG!

This show is like the best thing ever watching really cool people make beautiful cakes for an hour is surprisingly fun. The owner of the bakery, which is called Charm City Cakes, is Duff Goldman a wonderfully awesome guy who is incredibly silly but you can also tell that he knows exactly what he is doing. Then there’s Geoff, the Sous Chef, dead-pan all the time but has the best driest humor in the world, plus (BEWRARE TEENAGE GIRL MOMENT) he’s freakin’ adorable! Geoff, aside from being adorable, is probably the most talented at decorating in the whole bakery and his creations make me happy every week. Then there’s Mary-Alice the Hermione Granger of the bunch. She doesn’t actually work with the food but handles phone calls, emails and all the schedules which for a bakery as successful as Charms City Cakes is really a pretty tough job. Now there are many more people I could talk about but unfortunately that would be realllllly looooooong

Now the true genius of this show comes from the fact that these are cake decorates who on a weekly basis use blow torches and saws which really seems completely ridiculous but once you’ve seen the show a few times it makes total since and it’s hardly even noticeable anymore. It’s also so entertaining seeing all the different media themed cakes they make, like the Hogwarts cake they made for the Harry Potter Movie premier and the Serenity cake they made for a women’s 40^th birthday and many, many more. My ultimate goal is to find a cake that they couldn’t do but unfortunately I don’t think that’s possible because 1) they are incredibly skilled and I’m sure they can pretty much do anything (cake wise) and 2) the costs for one of these cakes are so crazy I can’t imagine every having enough money to buy one. But that doesn’t mean I will ever stop watching this completely original show.
